June 01, 2002 @ Night
On a few of our palm trees, we have Night-blooming Cereus (cactus family) growing. Common Name is Queen of the Night or Reina de la Noche.
Each waxy blossom opens for a single night (late May - early June) before wilting at dawn. The elegant white petals and stamens, along with the intensely fragrant perfume, make an unforgettable display, especially if many open at once. The edible fruits are bright red.
You've missed it for this year so make your reservations early for next June viewing.
